An elbow is installed when a change of direction is needed in a drain or vent line. The most common are 90° or 45° although 60˚ and 22.5° elbows are sometimes needed. The ends of a reducing elbow differ in size. A Long turn Elbow has a bend radius 1.5 times the pipe diameter while a short radius has the same size radius as the pipe diameter.
