Installing the drainage system for an laundry tub is a simple DIY project using ABS-DWV pipe and fittings, solvent cement, and a few hand tools. The installation is typically done using 1-1/2" ABS pipe and fittings.
ABS-DWV pipe is easily cut with hand or power tools. Ensure cuts are square and deburr all cut edges before solvent cementing.
A 90˚ elbow is used to change the direction of a drain line by 90˚. The hub ends connect directly to ABS pipe.
Be sure to install a sanitary tee with the middle bend pointing down toward the direction of drainage.
The pivoting P-trap with union and cleanout can adjust to a misaligned drain pipe in the wall (up to 10˚ from vertical in any direction).
A swivel nut is solvent cemented to the ABS drain pipe and then threaded onto the drain at the bottom of the laundry tub.
